Gladys Outlaw Gallop Scholarship

The Burlington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has been committed to serving Alamance and Caswell Counties for over 35 years. Our community-based programs and initiatives are driven by the Sorority's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust which consists of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

To advance our education priority, the Chapter's General Scholarship Award Committee is pleased to invite all eligible students to apply for our Gladys Outlaw Gallop Scholarship Award. The award's distinguished namesake, Gladys Outlaw Gallop, was a dedicated professional educator who served in Alamance County's public schools for 30 years. She was instrumental in the work of establishing our General Scholarship Award.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Gladys Outlaw Gallop Scholarship, students must:  

  • Be a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of North Carolina;
  • Attend a public or private high school located in an Alamance or Caswell County School District;
  • Be in good academic standing and scheduled to graduate high school in the 2024-2025 academic year;
  • Possess an unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
  • Plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university in the 2025-2026 academic year;
  • Be an engaged participant in academic, artistic, athletic, and/or community-based activities; and
  • Not be an immediate family member to a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Immediate family includes a spouse child, parent, sibling, grandparent, legal guardian, or relative living in home.

Scholarship Award

Each scholarship award recipient will receive a one-time $1,000 academic scholarship. Recipients will be recognized at their school's main awards day ceremony.
