GEMS is an acronym for Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully that provides a vehicle of change for young African American women between the ages of 14 and 18 to enhance their abilities and increase their self-worth, in order to achieve academic and Black girl excellence. Our priority application deadline is Saturday, September 30 but we will continue accepting applications through Wednesday, October 11!
The Delta GEMS application contains the following three sections: student data, parent and guardian information, and interests and involvements.
A virtual orientation and mandatory risk management training for the parents and guardians of our GEMS participants will occur on October 14, 2023, from 11 am to 1pm.
Running from October 2023 to May 2024, this year's program will be an in-person experience occurring on third Saturdays from 10 am to noon in Burlington, NC. We look forward to hosting our first session on Oct. 21.
